Tanzania Visa for Indian Citizens: eVisa, Documents and Fees

An ordinary Indian passport holder needs a visa for a Tanzania holiday. India is absent from the government's visa-free list. You can use the official eVisa portal yourself, or check the India requirements page if you want this site's application assistance.

The India page describes availability of this service. It is not the authority for every visa route, passport type or exemption.

Choose the category for the actual activities

A safari, beach holiday or visit to family belongs in the tourist route. The current central eVisa guidelines describe the ordinary visa for non-U.S. tourists. The U.S. multiple-entry tourist requirement should not be copied onto an Indian application.

Business assignments need closer attention. Repairing equipment or carrying out a professional assignment is different from attending a meeting. The government category descriptions allow some meeting or workshop purposes under ordinary visa. Do not select business merely because your employer pays for the trip; describe the activities and get Immigration guidance where needed.

A transit application is for continuing through Tanzania to another country. A safari followed by Zanzibar is a Tanzania holiday, not international transit.

The Tanzania High Commission in New Delhi also publishes consular categories and fees, including an Indian multiple-entry listing. Embassy instructions and the central online product should not be treated as interchangeable. For a multiple-entry or unusual itinerary, confirm the category with the channel where you will submit before paying.

Which passport and supporting files?

Use the passport you will present for Tanzania entry. An OCI card, PAN card or Aadhaar document does not replace the passport bio page requested in a visa application. If you travel on a foreign passport, use that passport's nationality rules rather than this India guide.

Prepare:

• The passport bio page and a recent color photograph.
• Return or onward travel information and the trip dates.
• Accommodation details, or a host's address and reachable contact.
• Any category-specific invitation or assignment documents requested by the application.
• A separate set of documents for each accompanying traveler.

Check names carefully when given names and surnames are split across passport fields. Match the scan, form and booking; do not shorten a name solely to fit a travel agent's informal itinerary. If the documents show different spellings, resolve the discrepancy before submission.

What this service currently charges

These are the site's prices, not the government's direct-application tariff. The fee comparison shows both routes. Check the selected product and total on the payment screen. A card billed in INR may incur your bank's conversion charges.

Arrival airport and Zanzibar plans

If you fly Mumbai–Doha–Zanzibar, the Tanzania arrival point is ZNZ, not Doha. For Delhi–Addis Ababa–Kilimanjaro, it is JRO. If you enter another country during a connection, that country's entry conditions are a separate check.

A continuous Tanzania trip can include mainland safari and Zanzibar without another Tanzania visa. Your first destination and entry point must match the itinerary. When to apply and how to follow up

This service asks you to allow up to 15 business days and blocks arrival dates less than 12 days away. The date minimum is not a processing guarantee. Leave room for document corrections; twelve calendar days are shorter than fifteen business days.

For direct applications, follow the government's timing and track the file through its status portal. For an assisted file, keep this site's reference and use your applications. Do not send a direct-government reference to the service portal expecting it to appear there.
